Meet N' Greet with sue Foley

Scot speaks of the "Chris Bell Connection"

I had the good fortune to see Sue Foley at her Edmonton area gig Sunday night. Solo acoustic to boot. A real education in the blues. Originals and a number of covers from female guitarists who have inspired her including Memphis Minnie, Elizabeth Cotten, and “Mother” Maybelle Carter. A great show. Sue’s latest record is “Pinky Blues” out on Stony Plain Records and it's up for a holy trifecta of awards: The JUNO Awards Blues Album of the Year, Five Maple Blues Awards and Three Blues Music Award from The Blues Foundation out of Memphis. It was mixed and mastered by Chris Bell Productions out of Austin who also mixed Scot Free Sessions. I got a chance to talk to Sue after the show and we sang the praises of the talented Chris Bell. The good news is Sue Foley is coming back to town in August for The Edmonton Blues Festival. At that show, she will be with her rocking band that she is out on the road with now opening for ZZ Top. That will be fun!
